An installation to celebrate the anniversary of the magazine, A decade of evolution in design. The showcases of Milan’s Boscolo Hotel become a gateway to the evolutionary and conceptual world of IFDM
The installation that IFDM is presenting at Milan Design Week opens up boundless perspectives. An exhibition concept celebrating ten years of the magazine, giving both an explanation of its mission and a guide to its future as a Global Design Carrier.
The showcases of the prestigious Boscolo Hotel, which faces onto the very central Corso Matteotti, host this tale in pictures, renewing a partnership begun last year when, in April, IFDM presented its latest, exclusive editorial product, the Contract & Hospitality Book dedicated to major international hospitality projects - and more besides - at the same location.
The two exhibition settings at the Milan luxury hotel have now become an open window on the history of IFDM, from its beginnings to the present day, marked by ten covers that - year after year - celebrate the important anniversary.
The visionary interpretation by the designer Alessandro La Spada, who designed the installation, plays on transparency, the concept of dynamism and perspective: seemingly elegant panelling, evoking the inside of an aeroplane in which ten portholes refer, metaphorically, to the boundless skies crossed by IFDM with its seven annual editions and 35 events in which it acts as media partner.
“A decade of evolution in design” - the title of the installation – is not therefore a point of arrival but rather the beginning of a new 'evolutionary' stage that heralds a dreamlike voyage to unexplored destinations, be they geographical, creative or editorial.
The concept has a twin interpretation in IFDM’s exhibition space at the Salone del Mobile.Milano, where the bond is emphasised between the magazine and the world of design, through the design of a lounge in which to welcome the friends and visitors who have loyally followed and shared in the magazine’s growth over these ten years.
